Moving Securely To the Cloud
Many organizations still hesitate to leap into the cloud. This usually stems firstly from cost considerations, which are different for everyone. Caveat emptor, ’nuff said. Then it’s concerns over security and seamlessness (see this TechRepublic article if you doubt me; and the Wall Street Journal offers a few more things to think about). Gartner thinks security will soon to be addressed as a service itself, starting with identity as a service (IDaaS – a class of software too new to have a Wikipedia page). There still seem to be a lot of gaps to fill before an organization can provide cloud applications to its users with the kind of transparency they have when working on systems hosted in-house; but dependable security services under the control of the service subscriber will certainly help us get there.
